Pandemic Shakedown

(Estimated reading time 1 minute)

Here’s some of what’s shaken loose for me in these last months since the pandemic hit. My personal boundaries are firmer, my connections are deeper. I’m clearer about what I want, what I need and what is superfluous. I feel okay letting some things go. I have less time for the drama that plays out in my own head (or in certain relationships) , the fears that nag and the self sabotaging voices. Life is too short. There is enough struggle in the world without me creating any more of it or putting myself in situations that create it.

I’ve learned that if you want the confidence to do something, you need to do something that gives you confidence.

What is shaking loose for you?

I’ve taken to watching the sunrise, and as I walked, watched and took pictures this morning, I thought of these words. (By the way, if you weren’t up for sunrise today, this is what it looked like from where I was standing.)

HEARTWORK

Each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
And every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
But yours,
is your ultimate
ART.
